Parent Letter

I hope you had restful break!

Starlings class had a fantastic Spring term and I am very excited to begin the Summer term together.  I have attached our curriculum grid which outlines what your child will be learning this term.

In English, we will be reading an alternative story of Rapunzel and writing a narrative based on this story.  In Maths, we will be learning about data handling, money and factions.

In Geography we are answering the question ‘What can you see at the coast?’. You can get more information about the children’s geography learning by looking at the attached knowledge organiser. The children will also be taught RSE (relationships and sex education) in PSHE. The content covered will be age appropriate and will cover the national curriculum aims.

This term, P.E. will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Children should attend school in PE Kit on these days. Please ensure that your child has appropriate P.E. kit. For health and safety reasons, earrings are removed and anyone with hair longer than shoulder length has their hair tied back.

PE kit:

Trainers

Plain navy or black shorts, legging or jogging bottoms (depending on the weather)

A blue school t-shirt with a logo or a plain white, navy or black t-shirt or polo shirt

A school sweatshirt (no hoodies)

Please ensure children bring a named bottle of water to drink during the day and that all uniforms are named to avoid things getting lost.

Children will be sent home with an optional home learning task which they may choose to complete in addition to the required home learning. We encourage families to read as often as possible. Books will be collected and changed on Mondays. Please remember that we can only change your child’s book once they can read it to us fluently (without sounding out).

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office or at the door at drop off or pick up. I look forward to seeing what we can achieve and learn together this term.

Kind regards,

Mrs Sadiya Khan
